Lake Thun Kayak Half Day
Paddle castle bays and turquoise water with a Level 3 guide
Lake Thun is 17.5 km of mountain-reflected water flanked by medieval castles, turquoise bays and the Bernese Alps on the southern shore. Konrad equips every paddler with a sit-in touring kayak and leads the route according to the day's wind and the group's paddling level.
Three routes are available: the castle coast from Thun to Oberhofen, the sheltered Spiez bay with its terraced vineyards, or the exposed southern shore toward the Stockhorn range. Konrad recommends on the day.
Itinerary
Gear up at the launch point
Kayak fitting, paddle technique briefing, safety kit check. Konrad shows the day's route on a laminated map.
Open water crossing
First open crossing — the lake is wide and the panorama opens up immediately. Konrad stays close for first-time paddlers.
Castle bay stop
Paddle into the sheltered cove below Oberhofen or Spiez castle. Optional swim stop, photos, rest on the bank.
Return and take-out
Back to the launch point with a tail wind if conditions cooperate. Kayaks returned, gear rinsed.

Oberhofen Bay
Sheltered cove below the famous Oberhofen Castle. Turquoise water, calm conditions, good for all levels.
Spiez Bay
The most picturesque bay on the lake — castle on the hill, vineyard terraces above the water, restaurant at the shoreline.
Beatushöhlen Bay
A hidden cove below the St. Beatus Caves on the north shore. The classic lunch stop on longer tours.
