Über Wengen

Wengen sits on the sunny Wengernalp plateau at 1,274m, perched between the Lauterbrunnen Valley below and the Kleine Scheidegg ridge above. Like Mürren, no road leads here — access is by the Wengernalpbahn cog railway (opened 1893) from Lauterbrunnen.

Wengen is famous worldwide for the Lauberhorn ski race, held every January — the fastest and longest downhill run on the World Cup circuit (4.5 km, up to 160 km/h).
